Geeks vs. Marketers

You know the difference between geeks and marketers?

  • Geeks get stuff done and get paid once.
  • Marketers strategically create VALUE and get paid over and over.
  • Geeks tinker with php, css, jpgs, and tech stuff.
  • Marketers tinker with traffic, conversion rates, offers, and MONEY-MAKING stuff.
  • Geeks know how to make things shiny and spiffy.
  • Marketers know how to make HOT customers out of cold leads.

So here’s my question for you…

What role have you been playing in your business…
…and who do you REALLY want to be?

For the “geeky” marketers out there, know this:
You must ALWAYS be a marketer first.

As a marketer, you know what makes you money, and if you’re not sure, you’re smart enough to test and tweak until you find out.

Geek skills might come in handy from time to time, but great MARKETING skills will ALWAYS be useful.

Remember:

  1. Marketer first.
  2. Geek second.

P.S. I know so many of you spend way too much time, money, and effort on the stuff that doesn’t bring home the bacon.

That’s why I’m going to be launching a special offer to get the”geek stuff” off your plate so you can focus on the MARKETING.

Stay tuned for that…

The REAL story of aspiring internet marketers…

I’ve made a discovery.

After coaching hundreds of entrepreneurs at all levels, creating dozens of sites from scratch, and helping my clients develop rock-solid USPs and sales funnels…

I’ve discovered that there are THREE types of marketers:

  1. The Average 90%
  2. The Above-Average 9%
  3. The ULTIMATE 1%.

Here’s the REAL story of aspiring internet marketers:

I believe that 90% of people starting out online never really get past the technical hurdles… the site, web design, email auto-responders, and so on.

That’s right. I’m saying that 90% FAIL before they ever really get started… BEFORE a dime is deposited into their Paypal accounts.

That’s the “Average.”

The Above-Average 9% get a site up and running, but it attracts little attention, gets little to no links, and little to no traffic…

…but it all goes unnoticed because Google Analytics isn’t installed, the site structure is a mess, and they don’t even know they have a problem - let alone how to fix it.

Plus it’s a pain to update the site (so the site goes stale) and any leads that visit the site bounce instantly because the site offers no value, there’s no sales funnel, and there’s nothing unique.

These two groups of people make up 99% of online entrepreneurs from my experience…

…and these are the SAME group of people who say things like:

“Internet marketing doesn’t work!”

“The ONLY people making money are the gurus.”

“The ONLY people making money are selling info products about how to make money.”

Sorry to say, but that’s utter B.S.

I’m no guru and I’m in several non-IM niches that are very successful.

And I’ve got colleagues and clients who are VERY successful in the reiki market, as well as stress, yoga, weight loss, and even the Christian youth ministry market - a real tough market to monetize.

The truth is, it’s the VICTIM MINDSET that causes 99% of internet marketers to FAIL.

The mindset of going to battle alone…

…the mindset of scarcity.

…the mindset of zero work and all play.

But what about the ULTIMATE 1%?

Well… they’re the true go-getters… the ones who spend hours learning and implementing, tweaking and testing from someone who’s been there…

… the ones who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty, but know when they need to get help to get things done.

The reality is that this “1%” is probably closer to 0.1% than 1%, because few actually take action and implement EVERYTHING they should to really get their business off the ground.

Here’s my challenge for you:

If you’re not in the top 1%, why not?
What’s holding you back?
